Subject: Campus Alert Level Update
To the campus community,
Due to rising COVID-19 cases in the region, the State of Connecticut has raised the COVID-19 alert level for the City of Middletown to ORANGE. Accordingly, Wesleyan’s Pandemic Planning Committee has raised the campus alert level to YELLOW.
As on-campus cases of COVID-19 remain very low, this alert level change is not intended to cause alarm. However, we would like our students, faculty, and staff to be aware of the changing situation in our surrounding community. As a result of this YELLOW alert level, Wesleyan is advising against all unnecessary travel from campus, with exceptions made for essential travel such as to medical appointments or the pharmacy. Because the positivity rate on campus remains quite low, no other campus restrictions are being imposed at this time. In-person classes will meet as scheduled. Students living off-campus are permitted to come to campus for classes but are advised to limit their off-campus activity. Staff and faculty who have been working on campus should continue to do so. With the election next week and a polling location in Fayerweather, please assist us in supporting the local election process while taking care to maintain distance and wearing face coverings.
Going forward, we will communicate with you as the situation evolves. We ask everyone to do their part to keep our community safe by heeding Department of Public Health guidance and continuing to follow COVID safety measures at all times, especially mask wearing, physical distancing, staying home when sick, avoiding large gatherings, and good handwashing.
